BACK HOME

Today 16th March we arrived in Paris from Chicago after a long trip. We had slept, eaten and watched filmes for about 8 hours! We arrived a bit late so we didn't have much time to get on the other plane to Barcelona.

We didn't have much time for the checking in Charles De Gaulle airport and we had to print the boarding cards in a very slow mashine.
The time passed so fast and after the security controls we started running along the airport with the suitcases.
Finally after all this adventure we could board on the plane in the last 5 minutes! But we got it馃挭馃徎
When we were in Barcelona Air Line had lost almost all our suitcases so we had to stay for an hour at the airport giving our information. They told us that the suitcases would arrive home between 7pm and 10pm.
So now we are waiting for them.

All the trip hasn't been only a experience in our life, it has been a life in one experience!!!!

DOWN TO SOUTH SIDE

Today we did amazing things. First of all we woke up as usual and we went to the high school to take the bus for today's day trip. We went to Chicago with Mr Andrew Su谩rez and our teachers. First we stopped at Barak Obama's house, because the present president of the United States used to be a senator in Illinois. We saw his big yard full of trees! Then we got on the bus again and we went to the Science and Industry Musuem of Chicago. The expositions were really interesting and interactive so we had lot of fun playing with physics, biology,... There was a little room full of mirrors and we had a lot of fun there and also we entered a mirror maze. Some of the students had the oportunity to create figures with a 3D printer. We stayed there since midday and then we left to Chinatown to eat. Chinatown was really good because it was different from all we had seen these days. It was full of restaurants and shops. We went to a restaurant near the main square and we had really good Chinese food (in my opinion). Then we had some shopping time to buy the last minute souvenirs. That was all. We came back to Niles North and we returned home with our parterns. Now we are hanging out in our last moments in Chicago with our partners and preparing the suitcase that we can't close. Good Night!!!!

SUNDAY: FAMILY TIME AGAIN

Today we have been sleeping until 11:00 a.m.

Yesterday we celebrated  St. Patricks day and we went to bed late so we were really tired.
After we had charged our bateries, we went for a walk around Skokie. We had nice weather and we enjoyed it a lot. But the important part of the day was still to come. My family prepared like a Thanksgiving dinner! They invited family and friends. Also Conxita was there!
Thanksgiving day is a national holiday celebrated in Canada and the USA. It was originally celebrated as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November.

We ate the turkey and all typical dishes of that day. We had a good time talking and celebrating this fantastic day!

SATURDAY: FAMILY TIME

Saturday 12th

Today every student has spent the day with their host family. Almost everyone went to Chicago Downtown and enjoyed the St. Patricks Day Parade.
First of all, we tried to get up early in the morning after a late movie night. It took us a while... Then we drove downtown to see the dyeing of the Chicago River. It was really cool! We'd never seen a dyed river before.
You must be asking how is it dyed..?So...The crew hops aboard two small motorboats donated by volunteers. The larger boat, at approximately 18 feet, has a crew of four. The smaller boat, a 12-footer, has two people. The larger boat is responsible for dyeing the river, which begins when it arrives under the Michigan Avenue bridge near Wacker Drive. The chemical used to dye the river is top-secret. A special orange powder is used to dye the river bright green.
Later we went to St. Patrick's Parade, there were a lot of cool floats. While the St. Patrick's parade was going on, everyone was dancing and having fun!

Finally, we went shopping and we walked around downtown. Right now, everyone is at home with their exchange partners having dinner or doing other stuff. Can't wait for tomorrow!!

PILSEN: MEXICAN DISTRICT IN CHICAGO

Today we have visited in the Pilsen neighborhood, the Mexican area of Chicago which is in the south of the city.

First of all, we stopped to buy some "churros" at El moro de Letr谩n, a churro factory(1626 S. Blue Island Avenue, Chicago, IL. The churros were quite different compared to the Spanish churros but they were delicious.
After that we visited The National Museum of Mexican Art (1852. W. 19th Street, Chicago, IL.) which had very colorful and interesting paintings Then, we walked around and could see spectacular murals that some artists paint in the street...
We had lunch at La Taquer铆a El Mezquite (1756 W. 18th Street, Chicago, IL). The bus picked us up at 2pm and we went back to school where we met our partners and got ready for an exciting weekend......

Today was a very long day. We went to the school in the morning like everyday and we had breakfast with the director of the school, we ate really delicious beaggles and some orange juice. After that, we went to see a play of some students of the school called 13. The play was about a boy that had to celebrate his bar mitzvah for his 13 birthday but he had a lot of peoblems because his parents get divorced and they go to live to Indian, another place. When he arrived he met a girl and they got friends but then, he met other boys thatwere are cooler and this girl didn't like them, so he decided to invite all the boys and not invite tjh girl. The musical was so nice and they had done a lot of hard work!!!
Then we went to  EMILY oaks, that was a place where the kids go to learn how to do different activities in the nature. After this, we went to see the firemen station, and they showed us how their days of work are and they showed us too the place were they relax, where they sleep, etc
Finally we met our partners and we did differnet activities

Some peopke went to the bowling and other ones went to have fun at a salsa club called 90 miles
In there,  they taught us how to dance salsa and it was so nice!!!!
So we had a really good day but really tiring because we did a lot of things.
